atariarcadeUpdated below with the answer.

We’ve been doing some spring cleaning at GeekWire HQ, so this week’s Name that Tech Tune challenge is an opportunity to pass along some of the random unsolicited promotional items that have been piling up under our desks for the past year.

Up for grabs is an Atari Arcade joystick accessory for the iPad, and two — yes, two! — Plants vs. Zombies air fresheners. (Technically, they are actually an “air beautifier” and an “air stinkifier,” respectively.)

This one-of-a-kind prize package will go to one winner chosen at random from the pool of correct answers to this week’s contest.

Here’s your challenge: Name the specific machine that generated this sound. If you think you know the correct answer, send it to contest@geekwire.com.

Name that Tech Tune is a regular feature of the GeekWire radio show, which airs on KIRO Radio in Seattle (97.3 FM) at 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. every Saturday. The show runs every weekend on GeekWire.com.  Also search for the show on Stitcher.

This is a tougher challenge, but we gave a major clue (the type of machine) during the Name that Tech Tune segment on this week’s GeekWire radio show. Listen below.

Does that help at all? If you think you know the answer, send it to contest@geekwire.com. We’ll reveal the answer and announce the winner next week. Thanks for playing!

Update, June 1: The sound is from the original Xbox dashboard, as described here by Microsoft’s Major Nelson. We received lots of submissions, but for the first time ever, no one got it right! We’ll be back next week to give everyone another chance with a new challenge.
