In what’s becoming a common occurrence, another TechStars Seattle 2013 team is raising a seed round.

The latest is ResolutionTube, which today announced a $1.5 million seed round led by Madrona Venture Group. Also participating in the round are angels David Cohen, Rudy Gadre, Owen Van Natta, Vijay Vashee, as well as Acceleprise Ventures.

App In Field
ResolutionTube uses a mobile app and augmented reality to bring intelligent technology to the physical-product troubleshooting process.

The company uses a mobile app and augmented reality to bring intelligent technology to the physical-product troubleshooting process. The goal is to eliminate the 1-800 number customer service experience, help technicians fix problems faster, and in turn, save money.

“There aren’t companies doing mobile video augmented reality for customer service,” CEO and founder Arnav Anand told us. “We are right at the forefront of the paradigm shift and wish to absolutely own this space.”

Anand previously fixed machines for Boston Scientific and became frustrated with the amount of time it took for a technician to arrive. ResolutionTube is designed to catalyze that process by offering instant help via smartphones and tablets.

“ResolutionTube has an amazingly brilliant, and yet simple solution it is bringing to the marketplace,” Paul Goodrich, managing director at Madrona, said at Techstars Demo Day. “The vertical they are attacking is badly in need of innovation, and they not only need it, but desperately want it.”

ResolutionTubeLogoThe company plans to use the fresh cash to introduce new advanced product features and hire engineers and salespeople.

ResolutionTube’s initial round follows fellow Techstars Seattle companies like Everpath, Wire and Shippable, who all raised seeds rounds of at least $1 million in the past few months.
