Ericsson-logo.jpgBloomberg is reporting this morning that Microsoft is in discussions with Ericsson to sell its IPTV service to the wireless network maker.

Citing people with knowledge of the talks, Bloomberg reported that Microsoft wants to put its attention on delivering TV services through Xbox. MediaRoom, which powers AT&T’s U-Verse television service, allows companies to stream television over the Internet.

Microsoft launched MediaRoom in 2007 and says it is the “world’s No. 1 IPTV platform.” More than 40 of the “world’s leading operators,” currently use the service, which powers 22 million set top-boxes.
