Two top Hulu executives with roots in the Seattle region are leaving the online video powerhouse. Hulu CEO Jason Kilar plans to depart this quarter, and Richard Tom, Hulu’s CTO, will leave around the same time, Kilar announced in a post this afternoon on Hulu’s corporate blog.
Kilar isn’t talking about the reasons for his departure, or his future plans, but he suggested that he and Tom could continue to work together in some capacity.
“Rich and I have been fortunate to build and innovate alongside each other these past 5+ years and our plan is to do more of that on the road ahead,” he writes.
Kilar worked at Amazon for almost a decade in a variety of positions, writing the first business plan for Amazon’s move into online video, and reporting to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos as a senior vice president with the company.
Tom worked for years at Microsoft in a variety of development and management roles. He was one of our keynoters at last year’s GeekWire Summit, talking about Hulu and the future of online video. Here’s the video from our on-stage interview with him.
