Screening and Performance: Metropolis: Friday, August 2nd, 7pm – 9pm. At the Henry Art Gallery auditorium, the Seattle experimental music collective GRID, will be preforming a live accompaniment to this classic Expressionist film. Expressionism and experimental music? Seems like the perfect fit!

Pickathon 2013: Oregon: Friday, August 2nd – Sunday, August 8/4 All day. One of the truly unique things about the Pacific Northwest is the abundance of music festivals! Pickathon, with performers like the Divine Fits, Shabazz Palaces and Feist is definitely one you won’t want to miss. Head into the woods for this intimate music festival.

Wineshots: Comedy’s Happiest Hour: Sunday, August 4th 8pm. This all female comedian line up is sure to entertain and have you ROTFL by night’s end. PLUS FREE WINE SHOTS!!! Cuz who doesn’t love knocking back cheap white wine from a dixie cup?

Lantern Ceremony on Greenlake: Tuesday, August 6th 6pm – 9:30pm. This lovely tradition, now in it’s 6th year at Greenlake, is a sight to behold. Hundreds of handmade lanterns will emblazen the lake in a beautiful gesture of remembrance for those in the Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombings.

VHS New Wave II: Revengeance: Tuesday, August 6th. This is the second installment of VHS box art curated by Scarecrow Video. Artists and cartoonists from around the country have either recreated beloved VHS classics or created covers for entirely new movies. The best thing? The artwork is all for sale and benefits Scarecrow, going on all month long.
