The Seattle region’s exports of hoodies and longboards are about to decline substantially.

Zumiez, the specialty retailer known for sports apparel and equipment, announced this morning that it will be moving its e-commerce fulfillment operations from its headquarters in Everett, Wash., north of Seattle, to Edwardsville, Kansas, in May.

The company says the move will accommodate its growing online business and increase the speed of deliveries.

The fulfillment center currently includes 35 Zumiez employees and 35 staffers from an outside agency, or 70 people total. The direct employees have been offered the opportunity to move to Kansas, with the option for severance packages if they decided not to move.
