You know you’re doing something right when your video about the latest NASA mission gets retweeted by NASA to its more than 2.7 million followers.

That’s what happened to a crew from Seattle that debuted a new video today called “We’re NASA and We Know It,” a spoof on the LMFAO hit “Sexy and I Know It.” It’s a highly unique celebration of the Curiosity landing, and it quickly got the attention of the space agency.

The team includes David Hudson, the singer in the video who voluntarily shaved his head in the style of NASA’s Bobak Ferdowsi; Zac Cohn of Startup Weekend; Forest Gibson, the video’s director, who is the executive producer of Cheezburger’s Know Your Meme; Alexander Theoharis, the executive producer of the video who directs the web series Job Hunters.

David and Steven Hudson of cinesaurus.com did all the editing, special effects, and were the two principal actors. Theoharis’ wife, Tara Theoharis, plays the role of “bikini-Curiosity.” One of the cast members is a former NASA employee, so those patches and headset are real.

Members of the group also collaborate on the LaughPong YouTube channel, but the new video marks the launch of the Satire YouTube channel.

Alexander Theoharis explains via email, “I had an old Youtube account lying around that seemed like it would be a good fit, and we decided to jump into action and start producing content we could be proud of. We had a meeting to decide what our first video should be about and Curiosity was trending all over the place. We’re big NASA and space lovers, so it seemed like it would be a great first go.”

Not a bad launch at all.
