Lord Vader and GeekWire’s Jonathan Sposato at last year’s GeekWire Gala. This year’s event is coming up Dec. 6.

We’re gearing up for our next big event, and it’s one of our favorites: The second annual GeekWire Gala will be held the evening of Dec. 6 at Seattle’s McCaw Hall. It’s shaping up to be the tech party of the season, featuring the return of our Newsmakers of the Year program and a new spin on the “Geeks Give Back” charity campaign.

More than 500 people from the tech community and beyond joined us for this bash last year, wearing everything from dresses and tuxes to casual attire and Star Wars uniforms. (Yes, the dress code is very flexible.)

We’re encouraging companies to make this your holiday party, to take advantage of everything we’ve got in the works. Bring friends, colleagues — and yes, your significant or insignificant others — and enjoy an evening of conversation, charity and networking.

Tickets are available here or below. Important note: Early bird rates end Nov. 11.

Geeks Give Back: GeekWire is partnering with the Seattle non-profit Vittana on a month-long charity campaign in advance of the GeekWire Gala. Tech companies such as Redfin and Microsoft are rallying their teams, and competing to become the micro-lending champs in support of the fight against youth poverty.

It’s not too late to sign up — in fact, we’d strongly encourage you and your company to get in on this now. You can register your team and follow the competition from this page.

Individual giving:  Wherever you work, if you’re coming to the gala, you can participate too. We’re partnering with Chirpify so that you can tweet your donation directly to Vittana. We’ll display the tweet stream at the event and your donation earns you an extra drink ticket. The highest bidder will win a $500 gift certificate to Knoll furniture.

We’ll have more details in the coming days on the Newsmakers of the Year and other elements of the party. In the meantime, be sure to get your tickets here or below before the early bird deadline expires.

Thanks to our sponsors for making this event possible: Filter, Microsoft, MailChimp, Knoll, PaperGMcAdams Wright Ragen, SEOmoz, and Vittana.  Contact Rebecca Lovell ( for remaining sponsorship opportunities.
