The first GeekGirlCon takes place in Seattle this weekend, bringing together a wide range of people (yes, dudes are allowed!) for a slate of panels, workshops, gaming, celebrity guests, music and other events.

“GeekGirlCon is an organization that celebrates and supports geeky women of all different types — whether you’re the tech geek, the science geek, the media geek or you just really love making Doctor Who cakes,” said Erica McGillivray, the GeekGirlCon president (and a former GeekWire Geek of the Week), explaining the origins of the group and its new flagship event on the GeekWire radio show this summer.

The event is Saturday and Sunday at Seattle Center, with single-day passes going for $30 and weekend passes for $45. Online ticket sales are closed, but passes are expected to be available at the door this weekend and today at Seattle-area retailers.
