Good news, Seattle-area gadget hounds: gdgt, the gadget Q&A site founded by veteran tech writers Ryan Block and Peter Rojas, is bringing its popular live event back to Seattle, the evening of Friday Aug. 5 at the Showbox SoDo.

It’s a free, all-ages event, with a bunch of top tech companies providing a glimpse of their best up-and-coming stuff. If you went last year, you know it’s not to be missed. Register to attend here.

We also have an intriguing opportunity for you startup founders, or anyone else with a company or product deserving of some exposure in front of the gdgt crowd. GeekWire is working in partnership with gdgt on a contest that will award a sponsor table at the event to one lucky company.

To enter, submit a 75-word description of your company or a 60-second video, explaining why you should be chosen, to todd@geekwire.com by Friday, July 22, at midnight.

We’ll announce the winner the week of July 25.

Whoever nabs that table will be in good company: Existing sponsors of the event include AT&T, HTC, T-Mobile, Lenovo and Marvell, among others. GeekWire will also be there in force.

gdgt live starts at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Showbox SoDo, 1700 1st Avenue South in Seattle. (There’s also press preview before the doors open. Media should email barry@gdgt.com for details and credentials.)

Don’t forget to sign up, and see you there!
