The Great Hall at Seattle's Union Station.

As Team GeekWire looks back on an eventful year, and ahead to the next, we can’t think of a better way to celebrate our community than with a few hundred of you, our closest friends. That’s right, the folks who brought you “Get Your Geek On” (the epic GeekWire launch party) are rolling out the red carpet for the GeekWire Gala the evening Thursday, Dec. 8, at Union Station’s Great Hall.

Yes, it’s a gala, but don’t worry — in a city where dressing up means you’re wearing socks with your shoes, there’s no need to get formal for this night on the town. But get fancy if you want, and wearing red, white and black GeekWire colors is a bonus.

Tickets for this big bash are available here.

With support from our platinum sponsor Zillow, we’ll toast the year’s newsmakers, and give a heartfelt cheer to the men and women who will grace our 2012 GeekWire Calendar, where we’ll honor “geeks who give back” in their zealous support of the region’s technology community.

Continuing with the theme of sustaining our region, we’re delighted to share a portion of the sponsorship proceeds of this calendar with Child’s Play. This charity is a regional gem; the thriving gaming community rallies around improving the lives of hospitalized children through “the power of play.” And we couldn’t be happier to reunite with our launch party golf celeb, KIRO traffic reporter, and founder of Mission Hot Mama, Jenni Hogan, as she tops off her MobileTweetup, Toys For Tots, at our gala.

But wait, there’s more.  It just wouldn’t be a GeekWire event without that special sauce, and along with Zillow, sponsors such as Filter and Barokas will each host calendar-themed party stations complete with techie give-aways.  Whether we’re celebrating National One-Hit Wonder Day (September 25) or National Star Wars day (you guessed it, May the Fourth be with you), fun, games and swag can be yours.  Photo booth chicanery brought to you by the award-winning photographers at Red Box Pictures (that’s where the red carpet comes in).

Everyone’s a winner at the GeekWire gala, as every guest will receive a complimentary copy of our 2012 calendar.

Food, drinks, connecting with old friends and making new ones are part of the GeekWire tradition, so don’t miss out!

Check out our event registration page for details, as well as group rates.  Contact me (rebecca@geekwire.com) for remaining sponsorship opportunities.  But run, don’t walk, to sign up for this party — because this time, sold out means sold out, and we won’t have room for all 850 of you who attended our launch. See you at the GeekWire Gala: The Year in Geek!
