TechStars is off to a great start. We already have over a couple hundred applicants and I expect we’ll have over 300 by June 1, 2010. We only accept 10 companies.  There’s lots of ways to read this data. Here’s the way I’d suggest reading the data:

“WOW — starting a company is really competitive. If there are 300 applicants to TechStars in Seattle…just imagine how many more technology companies are starting up in the Pacific Northwest….thousands!  And if I apply to TechStars, and am good enough to get in, well then I will have a chance to stand out amongst the thousands of startups. “

What’s the risk of applying — wasting a few hours on the application? What’s the benefit — being amongst the 10 companies that all the venture capitalists in the area are going to want to meet with and support even if they don’t fund you.  You’re the business person — what would you do?
The application can be found here.
