Microsoft will hold an event focused on devices in New York City next month, as it prepares for the busy holiday shopping season.

In an invite to media, Microsoft gave few details beyond time — 1 p.m. Pacific Oct. 2 — and a message asking for “a moment of your time.” Expectations are that Microsoft will announce a refresh its existing Surface device line. But Microsoft fans are holding out hope that the event will mark the debut of a flashy new product such as the heavily rumored handheld foldable Surface device that blurs the lines of PC, tablet and smartphone known as Andromeda that was reportedly on hold as of a couple months ago.

Microsoft isn’t the only tech giant planning hardware announcements in the next few weeks. Apple will hold its next iPhone event Sept. 12, and Google is expected to unveil the third generation of its Pixel smartphone Oct. 9.
