Facebook tops 100 ‘Best Places to Work’ list, with In-N-Out Burger cracking top 5 and Amazon left out

You may have already read it on Facebook, but people who work at Facebook really like working at Facebook. So much so that the social media giant has taken the top spot for the third time on Glassdoor’s annual Best Places to Work list.

The job site announced the winners of its 10th Employees’ Choice Awards on Tuesday night. The list is based entirely on feedback shared by employees of the various companies that are honored.

In-N-Out Burger, the fast-foot chain that really needs to hurry up and open a location in Seattle, ranked fourth on the list ahead of some of the biggest tech companies in the world, including Google, Microsoft and Apple. Chick-fil-A (72), Trader Joe’s (70) and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (19) also made this list.

Amazon may employ more than 40,000 people in Seattle, but apparently not enough of them care to log in to Glassdoor to say how wonderful it is. All you have to do is watch that warm and fuzzy Facebook video above to be left wondering why being peculiar at the e-commerce giant isn’t boast-worthy.

Facebook took over the 2018 top spot from the Boston-based management consulting firm Bain & Company, which came in at No. 2 for 2018. Those positions were reversed last year. Facebook was also previously No. 1 in 2013 and 2011.

Bain & Company, Google and Apple are the only companies to make Glassdoor’s list of 100 companies all 10 years.

There are 40 newcomers on the list this year, including Bellevue, Wash.-based T-Mobile at No. 79. Other Seattle-area notables include Zillow (57), REI (61) and Starbucks (96).

Glassdoor also offered up a list of the best small and medium places to work, and companies such as Seattle-based marketing analytics startup Bizible made the cut.
