“Thunderbirds Are Go,” a reinvention of the classic 1960s television series, is getting a new home on Amazon as the company announced Thursday that the kids series is coming to Prime Video.

The series is scheduled to premiere on April 22 with all 13 episodes available for streaming. Ahead of that launch, Prime members will get a sneak preview on April 15 with the one-hour special “Ring of Fire: Parts 1 and 2.”

The show, which uses a mix of CGI animation and live-action model sets, follows the Tracy brothers, a family of heroes who perform daring acts around the globe as a team called International Rescue. Oscar-nominated actress Rosamund Pike (“Gone Girl”) has a starring role as Lady Penelope.

“We’re excited that our customers and their families will partake in a new rendition of a classic property with the Tracy brothers at the helm,” said Tara Sorensen, head of Kids Programming at Amazon Studios, in a news release. “The new series will pay tribute to the legacy of the original series while adopting a new level of action-adventure and groundbreaking mix of animation and live-action.”

“Thunderbirds Are Go” is produced by ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures in collaboration with Weta Workshop.
