blog-hero-shot1GeoRiot, a Seattle-based startup that helps marketers manage their affiliate links around the world and across devices, has acquired BookLinker, a service that helps authors manage their promotional links across Amazon’s 14 different international storefronts.

The acquisition of BookLinker from UK-based New Dawn Media was a cash deal for BookLinker’s assets and technology — no employees will join GeoRiot as a part of the acquisition. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The deal gives GeoRiot an additional brand and new book-specific tools. BookLinker’s technology allows authors and others to easily generate one short link that will automatically direct anyone who clicks on it to the Amazon storefront specific to their area of the world, while generating a small kickback for every purchase through Amazon’s affiliate program.

georiot_logo_homeIt’s similar to GeoRiot’s offering, an intelligent link management platform that works across all product types on Amazon and the iTunes Store. BookLinker has more than 2,000 clients — primarily in the indie book publishing space — to add to GeoRiot’s base of almost 4,000 clients.

The two brands will continue to operate independently, though GeoRiot will work to integrate the workflows and technologies from the two companies.

“We have watched BookLinker grow and do amazing things in the Amazon book space. We couldn’t be happier about acquiring their service,” GeoRiot CEO Jesse Lakes said in a post announcing the news. “Both GeoRiot and BookLinker have a very similar goal, so it makes perfect sense for us to team up. We’re hoping to improve some things with BookLinker using existing GeoRiot technology as well as learn a few things from their streamlined workflow to make GeoRiot better.”

GeoRiot, a 5-year-old startup, operates with an eight-person full-time team, six of whom are in Seattle, based in the SoDo neighborhood. The company also works closely with four out-of-state contractors.
