The video presents a vision of work and communications in 5 to 10 years — with 3D holograms annotating the world around us; bendable, fluid displays that adjust depending on who’s viewing them; intelligent virtual agents acting on our behalf to present information and guide our decisions; wearable devices that take on the patterns of the clothes we’re wearing; and much more.

Our guest in the studio is David Jones, executive producer on Microsoft’s Envisioning Team, which developed the video. Jones walks us through the scenarios in the video, explaining the thinking behind them, and the technologies that will power them. He also explains the purpose of the project, as both an internal and external tool for the company.

Watch the video above, and listen for the conversation with Jones starting in the second segment of this week’s show, starting at 9:15

The show begins with a discussion of the FCC’s Net Neutrality decision, and the conclusion of my effort to cut my Comcast/Xfinity bill by $100.
