primenowamazon12Amazon has expanded its Prime Now rapid delivery service to selected zip codes in Atlanta, as the company continues its speedy rollout across the country. Originally launched last December in New York City, Prime Now allows people to order items from Amazon and get them delivered in as little as one hour.

Using the Prime Now mobile app, people can find items that are available for rapid delivery and set up a drop off. Two-hour delivery through Prime Now is available for free to Amazon Prime members, and one-hour delivery costs $7.99. In Atlanta, the service is available from 8 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.

The news comes just a week after Amazon expanded Prime Now to Dallas, and two weeks after its launch in Baltimore and Miami. That rapid expansion shows just how much Amazon wants to build out its rapid delivery network in order to compete with both physical retailers and new sharing economy-powered services like Postmates.

Prime Now isn’t the only rapid delivery program the company has in place. Amazon customers in a dozen U.S. markets can also opt in to same-day delivery from Amazon, though that service doesn’t come with the same sort of granular time guarantees Prime Now offers.
