Seattle-based traffic intelligence company Inrix has teamed up with Re/max to provide prospective homebuyers with information about how long it will take them to commute to work with Inrix’s Drive Time service.
Today, more than 50,000 Re/max agent and brokerage websites will feature Drive Time metrics that allow buyers to show how long it will take to get from home to their workplace and other important destinations. Interested buyers can visit Remax.com, or their local agent’s website to find the feature.
To use the service, drivers can select a particular Re/max property online, and then click on the “Map with Inrix Drive Time” button. After that, sliders can be adjusted to select the time of day and maximum amount of time spent in the car — once that is set, Inrix provides a map that shows how far drivers will be able to travel.
It’s an important move by Remax, since many homebuyers list a property’s distance from their workplace as one of the key factors that they take into consideration when buying a home. More and more companies are starting to get on the bandwagon of offering commute statistics, too. Trulia, for example, also offers a heat map that shows the commute time homebuyers can expect.
Earlier this year, Inrix teamed up with Windermere to offer a similar service on its home listings.
