IMS Health has turned to Amazon to host all of its software-as-a-service applications, in a move that should help the company easily scale up its services. The company’s Nexxus Commercial Application Suite and IMS One intelligent cloud services will be hosted on AWS.

The IMS One cloud allows clients to pull together life sciences data from IMS, client data and third-party data into a single view. The Nexxus suite, which offers a wide variety of business intelligence, marketing and other tools, can integrate with IMS One’s data.

In making this move, IMS is treading a path many other companies have before it – turning its focus towards building and optimizing its own services, while leaving infrastructure management to a cloud provider.

“Taking advantage of AWS’s rich platform, operational excellence, and rapid pace of innovation, IMS Health is able to focus all of its energy on creating amazing solutions for its customers in the government, pharmaceutical, consumer health, and medical device industries – and leave the undifferentiated heavy lifting of managing infrastructure to us,” AWS Vice President Adam Selipsky said in a press release.
