Former MTV Networks CEO Judy McGrath is joining the Amazon board of directors, boosting the company’s Hollywood credentials at a time when Amazon is attempting to compete aggressively in digital music and streaming video.
The company disclosed McGrath’s election to the board in an SEC filing this morning. She brings the total number of Amazon directors to 10, and she also is joining the Amazon board’s Leadership Development and Compensation Committee.
McGrath was CEO of MTV Networks, a Viacom subsidiary, from 2004 to 2011, and has most recently been working on a joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment called Astronauts Wanted * No experience necessary.
As part of her election to the board, she was granted 2,520 shares of Amazon stock, vesting over the three years starting in August 2015.
