Steve Wozniak isn’t interested in picking up the new iPad Air.

To be clear, it’s not that the Apple co-founder is unhappy with Apple’s design, or some new feature with iOS 7. The storage, he says, is just not big enough for him — since he wants to put his entire media library on it.

“Yes it’s thinner but I wanted storage. I don’t have broadband at home, so I carry all my personal media in the iPad. So I was hoping Apple has a 256GB iPad,” Wozniak told an audience at the Apps World conference in London, according to a report by Techradar.

It turns out that Woz lives in an area that doesn’t have broadband access, and it’s just not fast enough for him to download a movie from iTunes when he wants to watch it.

“I could wait for it but I get bored by then,” Wozniak said.

Since the Woz doesn’t have broadband at home, that puts him in the bottom 30% of all Americans over the age of 18. Seems that makes him far less qualified to speak as a modern-day tech expert, despite his great accomplishments of the 1970s.

I was thinking much the same thing.

What a stupid ass statement. Go back to your cave.

Yeah, I have to agree this definitely colors his commentary a bit. This particular angle is a pretty weak one to attack Apple’s choice to severely limit capacity in their mobile devices.

That said, I still find it completely silly that despite falling prices of flash memory, Apple’s only just _finally_ added a 128GB tier of devices, but for a whopping $300 premium.

I one of the (probably limited few) people who doesn’t like having to depend on wifi availability or pay ultra-premium rates for cellular data – so I do much prefer having my content ON my device.

All I can say is thank GOD they haven’t killed the iPod Classic. If only there were a way to store all my content on my iPod and access it wirelessly on my iPad. My life would be perfect. Almost.

His choice to live someplace remote should make him ineligible to comment???? WTF, that’s asinine! He has a legitimate need and the device doesn’t support him. Let him have his opinion! He deserves it… and BTW, if it wasn’t for him you’d be SOL….

And why do we care what he thinks?

    • Mr XBob

Because Apple wouldn’t be where it is today without him. He knows far more than Cook, and Jobs wouldn’t be where he was (before he was an idiot and tried curing his cancer with herbal remedies) without Woz.

        A. This article is 3 months old. Why are you replying to comments?

        B. Woz was an engineer. To compare him to Cook or Jobs on how to run a Fortune 500 company is absurd. Thanks for playing.

You guys morons? Founder of the company and he gave his opinion. You don’t like it, so you attack him? Go back to your Jr High School classes and come back to this site in 8 years when you graduate or mature. I don’t care for Apple products much, but your comments are just odd.

Apple iPad Air is not an innovative device thatswhy Woz does not like this device and i think it is a big reason for Apple to worry.

  • lalala

umm USB flash drive/memory stick, Woz? oh sorry, iforgot iPad doesn’t support USB on-the-go or memory stick… sillyi !

  • Glenn

Effing Woz doesn’t have broadband at home? I have no idea what to make of that…
