I slept right through it, but many in Seattle didn’t. The epic thunderstorm that rolled through Seattle the other night awoke many, including our dog Henry who, according to reports from my wife, was scratching at the floor downstairs seeking shelter from the noise.
Luckily for those who missed the action, Seattle photographer Anthony May also was awake, capturing some of the coolest shots we’ve ever seen of our city, from the fabulous vantage point of Kerry Park.
Just one word describes this: Wow!
Now, May’s amazing photo of the city is spreading like wildfire via social media, with the photographer noting in a Tweet that more than 180,000 people viewed the photo on Facebook. KOMO 4 and KING 5 both featured May’s awesome photo as well.
May, who describes himself as a “12th Man, tech geek, photographer, husband, and dog owner,” also was extremely gracious in his Tweets to fans, responding to many who expressed their love of the photo.
I want to say thank you to everyone who shared, commented or liked the lightning photo I took last night, I feel like I won the Lightning Lotto. I do appreciate everyone’s support and kind words.
Wow, over 181,000 people saw my photo on FB. No idea how many on Twitter #AntMayPhoto

May tells us that he used a Canon 5D Mk III, shot at 2.5 seconds at f/8 ISO 400. “I set my tripod up to focus on the Space Needle and started snapping,” he said.
By the way, this video montage is pretty awesome too. Boy, we live in an amazing place.
