Going green is a way of life for many in the Pacific Northwest, and penny-pinching local governments are more than happy to oblige the push for paperless billing.
The State of Washington has struck an agreement with Seattle startup Doxo to offer paperless services for anyone paying bills or requesting files through the state government.
Doxo, a cloud-based filing cabinet and online bill-paying service, is currently being used by a number of local governments and businesses including AT&T, Sound Community Bank, and Puget Sound Energy.
In addition to the state, 11 counties are also signing up with Doxo to offer paperless services including: Benton, Chelan, Clallam, Clark, Franklin, Island, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Stevens, Thurston, and Walla Walla.
While this doesn’t mean the state is going completely paperless, Doxo says the switch has the potential to save the public tens of millions of documents per year.
