The giant Penny Arcade Expo video game convention, better known as PAX, kicks off this morning in Seattle, and Microsoft will be using the venue to preview some of the Xbox Live games that will be available for Windows 8 when the new operating system debuts this fall.
The company this morning released a list of the titles, ranging from established franchises such as Angry Birds and Cut the Rope to new titles such as Adera, an episodic hidden object game.
So how are these Xbox games if they’re on Windows? Microsoft says the games will have Xbox Achievements, plus Xbox leaderboards, multiplayer modes and the ability to connect with Xbox friends. Twenty-nine of the titles are from Microsoft Studios, according to the Major Nelson blog. The games will be available in the preinstalled Windows 8 Xbox Games app and in the Windows 8 app store.
I’m planning to stop by the Microsoft booth at the show later today, so check back for details, but in the meantime, here’s the full list of games as posted on the Microsoft Windows Experience Blog this morning. Some of these will be shown at PAX.
