The sports world has L.A. vs. New York, but in the realm of the undead, the epic cross-country battle of our age is Seattle vs. New Jersey. And our hometown horrors have once again emerged victorious.

Yes, that’s right, it’s a good day to be zombie in Seattle.

A reported tally of more than 4,500 people took part in the charity Red, White & Dead Zombie Walk in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood yesterday, topping the comparably meager total of 4,093 last October in Asbury Park, N.J. — the previous Guinness World Record for “Largest Gathering of Zombies.”

See more pictures and links on the event’s Facebook page.

In the videos below, YouTube user SeattleRex captures some fun scenes from the day, and Joe Stadele documents the traditional Thriller Dance.

I love zombies! And I’m excited to know that there are so many people on both coasts that feel the same.  But followed the link, and I can’t congratulate Seattle just yet! When do they expect Guinness to actually award them the title?
