Family, friends and colleagues of Steve Lacey are still grappling with the loss of the respected Google engineer and Microsoft veteran in a car crash in Kirkland over the weekend.

And it’s only appropriate that one of the tributes is in the form of Flight Simulator, the Microsoft program that Lacey worked on for much of his time at the company. See the video above for the special flight created in Lacey’s honor by Tom Tiedman.

Also see the Steve Lacey Memorial page on Facebook for more remembrances.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at East Shore Unitarian Church in Bellevue, with a reception afterward at Wilde Rover Irish Pub & Restaurant in Kirkland.

Sorry, I redid the video for a better tribute. This flight has more of the Texture by Tom and a landing in Seattle International Airport, which is close to where Steve lived in Kirkland.
