Whether or not this was planned by Amazon this way, Bloomberg Businessweek has been breaking the news of the company’s tablet plans this morning in advance of its official announcement.

First we learned from Bloomberg that the Kindle Fire will sell for a rock-bottom $199, significantly undercutting the iPad on price.

Now Bloomberg has updated its story with this image to gaze upon — the first real glimpse of the Kindle Fire — as we wait for Amazon’s formal announcement out of New York City.

    If this can browse the internet and check email, etc. I replace my Samsung Galaxy Tab for it. That’s why I didn’t get a Kindle in the first place.

    It will be a huge hit at that price point. And, smartly, they’re differentiating themselves from the “me too” Android cabal by barely mentioning the OS and delivering an immersive, Amazon-designed UI experience. Looking forward to trying one out in November!
