Microsoft debuts on list of world’s most ethical companies

Take that, David Boies and Judge Jackson?

Achieving an honor that would have been unthinkable a decade ago, Microsoft today made its debut appearance on a coveted list of the world’s most ethical companies, compiled by the Ethisphere Institute, a New York think tank.

Forbes has a good explanation of the selection process, which includes “reviewing codes of ethics and litigation and regulatory infraction histories; evaluating investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looking at activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; and studying nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers.”

Out of 3,000 nominations, 110 companies made the unranked list. Other notable tech companies achieving the designation include Bellevue-based T-Mobile USA, Zappos (part of Amazon.com), eBay, Salesforce.com, Adobe Systems, and Symantec.

Best laugh I’ve had all week. Though you should check your calendars. I isn’t April 1st yet.

Microsoft has an ethics policy, so what? The People’s Republic of China has really strict traffic laws too.

If you want to be on a list that includes M$, then perhaps you need to re-figure your goals.

I wonder how much they paid to get on the list…

Hey trolls, 1990 called and they’d appreciate if you’d stopped living there.

I can’t think of a single company mentioned that I would even remotely consider ethical.

Well, surely the immense support MS provided to the ISO regarding standards for file formats must have tipped it in their favour.

M$ ethical??? ROFLMAO – a convicted monopolist that got to that position using illegal and unethical business practices?? Give me a break. Obviously this list is totally meaningless and the people defining it totally clueless (or well paid – I’m not sure which it is)

Clearly Microsoft has the best ethics money can buy.
