The Pacific Northwest is home to some of the world’s most creative and innovative geeks.
We’re getting to know some of them through our Faces of GeekWork series, promoting the outstanding technology professionals who are looking for their next role in the community. The series is presented by GeekWork, the new recruiting service of GeekWire that matches amazing technical talent with fantastic career opportunities.
Today, we’re pleased to connect with Bonny Lau, a Seattle product leader who has worked for companies such as Glowforge, Zillow, Microsoft and Google.
PROFESSION: I build products. I’ve built 0-1 products from ideas on a whiteboard to revenue and scaled products to hundreds of millions of users.
PROUDEST PRODUCT: Glowforge. There’s something special about working on a product that lights up the faces of 3-year-old toddlers and 80-year-old grandmas alike.
WHY I DO WHAT I DO: I love bringing ideas to life; That entails everything from rallying people around a vision to doing whatever it takes to remove roadblocks.
LAST BOOK I READ: Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir. It’s a story of ingenuity and grit with many parallels to the journey of building a product.
PHILOSOPHY: Build. Measure. Learn. It’s not only a framework for building products but also for personal and career growth. Build on every experience to reflect, learn, grow, and iterate.
