University of WA Resilience Hackathon

April 26 @ 9:00 am 5:00 pm

What is a Hackathon?

A hackathon is an event at which participants engage in rapid creative collaboration to address real-world challenges and seek potential solutions.

What is the focus of this Hackathon?

The UW Resilience Hackathon will focus on designing adaptable cities capable of responding flexibly to a range of disruptions – from pandemics to earthquakes to heat waves – affecting our natural and urban environments, mobility and accessibility, infrastructure, technology, and public health. Join us as we bring together stakeholders from the City of Seattle, the University of Washington, and community partners, each contributing their unique expertise to developing new and groundbreaking approaches to pressing urban problems. Together, we aim to strengthen the efficiency and resilience of our city to better prepare for future disruptions.

What kind of pilot projects will be discussed?

The event will focus on the development of submitted “pitches” for a set of anticipatory pilot projects aimed at improving urban resilience that could feasibly be moved forward to implementation. Projects may consider a range of urban functions, from transportation and communication to electricity, water, and healthcare. Projects can consider a wide range of disruptions, from natural disruptions to planned disruptions like victory parades and the World Cup.

We want to hear your ideas for resilience-focused pilot projects!

We are soliciting “seed ideas” in advance of the Hackathon so that we can prepare teams to be able to hit the ground running on the day of the event.

Submit your idea here!
