Frances McCue is poet, writer, author of multiple books, and teaching professor at the University of Washington. She's also the writer and producer of Where the House Was, a feature documentary about gentrification and poetry in the city. Her poetry books read as novels, taking us through the life of a stenographer who doesn’t want to take dictation (The Stenographer’s Breakfast), or the world of Marrakesh where a tragedy ensues (The Bled). One of her most recent books, Timber Curtain, traces the old Hugo House building on Capitol Hill into redevelopment. McCue was the co-founder of Hugo House and is the author of a book on the poet Richard Hugo (The Car That Brought You Here Still Runs: Revisiting the Northwest Towns of Richard Hugo). She is currently engaged in a new literary start-up: Pulley Press, a poetry imprint.
