The Ballmer Group, co-founded by former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and his wife Connie, is investing $3 million in CodePath, an education platform that helps underrepresented students pursue computer science careers.

CodePath says it has trained nearly 20,000 students from a network of 500 colleges — and has active partnerships with 70 colleges and universities across the country, including 13 Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

The funds from Ballmer Group will help the organization expand its beginner-level courses, develop partnerships with community colleges in key regions where Black students reside, and add financial literacy offerings to its Career Center services suite, according to a news release.

Ballmer group previously donated $21 million to City Year, an education nonprofit that focuses on helping students at under-resourced schools, and made a $400 million investment aimed at boosting Black investment fund managers and Black businesses.
