— Expedia Group added six new technology leaders. The Seattle-based travel giant has spent the past few years restructuring its business and unifying its behind-the-scenes technologies. Part of that effort has focused on developing microservices with APIs that can be shared among its different brands and used in features for customers.
“Our new hires are a clear signal that we’re entering the next phase of our transformation to a platform business,” Expedia Group CTO Rathi Murthy said in a statement.
The new hires include:
- Sachin Singh as senior vice president of search and supply. Singh previously worked in leadership roles at Amazon for 13 years.
- Reena Patil as senior vice president of partner product. Patil previously worked in product management leadership at Google for 11 years.
- Archana Arunkumar as senior vice president of platform as a product. Arunkumar previously worked at Workday and DropBox.
- Rajesh Naidu as chief architect. Naidu previously worked at Starbucks for nine years.
- Doug Powell as vice president of design practice management. Powell previously worked at IBM for eight years.
- Arun Dutta as vice president, India managing director. Vice President, India Managing Director. Dutta previously worked at HP, Danaher Corporation, and Victoria’s Secret.
Other personnel changes across the Pacific Northwest tech industry:
- Chris Novak, head of Xbox research and design, left Microsoft. He spent nearly two decades at the tech giant, starting as a design director for Xbox in 2002.
- Christian Seifert, former principal group manager at Microsoft, joined Forta, a blockchain security startup, as researcher-in-residence.
- Kim Baggett, a former vice president at Seattle Children’s Research Institute, was appointed chief operating officer at Sage Bionetworks.
- David Niu is stepping down as vice president of innovation at Limeade, which acquired his startup TINYpulse last year.
- Casey Katims, former director of federal and inter-state affairs for the Office of Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, was appointed executive director of the U.S. Climate Alliance.
