— Seattle-based Adaptive Biotechnologies announced Nitin Sood as its first-ever chief commercial officer. Sood will report to Adaptive Biotech CEO Chad Robins.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sood was most recently SVP of products at oncology company Guardant Health. He was previously CEO of NuGen Technologies and Boreal Genomics.

In this new role, Sood will be responsible for the commercialization of Adaptive Biotech’s research solution immunoSEQ; its testing tool clonoSEQ; and T-Detect, a T-cells test which has been used to detect an immune system response to COVID-19.

— Former Microsoft CVP Carolyn Everson will take over as president of San Francisco-based grocery delivery company Instacart in September. At Microsoft, she led global ad sales and strategy.

Everson most recently was VP of Facebook’s global marketing solutions which works with the social networks top agencies and advertisers. She is one of several former Facebook executives to join the company this year including new CEO Fidji Simo.

Instacart has been building out its advertising business and reportedly hired more than 50 former Facebook employees based on LinkedIn data compiled by Silicon Valley tech news site The Information.

Founder and former CEO Apoorva Mehta has transitioned to become executive chairman of the board while current Instacart President Nilam Ganenthiran will become a strategic advisor to the CEO.

The 9-year old company also turned to the Pacific Northwest for talent hiring former Porch executive Asha Sharma as COO in February.

Instacart aims to build on its momentum from the pandemic and go public in the fourth quarter this year and expand internationally, according to another report by The Information.

— Former Avalara Senior Director of Engagement and Diversity Amelia Ransom has joined Smartsheet as vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Ransom previously spent more than a decade at Nordstrom, most recently as director of talent. Headquartered in the Seattle-area, Avalara and Smartsheet are both publicly traded companies founded in 2004 and 2005, respectively.

— Seattle startup Ally.io announced Jaisimha Muthegere as SVP of engineering, as well as the acquisition of project management software company Zepel.io.

Based in India, Muthegere will be the site leader for Ally.io’s offices in Chennai and Bengalaru. He was most recently CTO for San Francisco-based employee management software Reflektive.

As part of the Zepel.io acquisition, co-founder and CEO Gautham Shankar and the rest of the Zepel.io team will join Ally.io.

Ally.io develops goal-setting collaboration software for organizations using the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) method. The startup closed a $50 million Series C round earlier this year and plans to open a fourth office in London.
