T-Mobile said it will save first responder agencies up to $7.7 billion over the next 10 years with a new initiative that provides free wireless service.

The company’s “Connecting Heroes” program allows any public and non-profit state and local fire, police and EMS departments to get free unlimited talk, text and smartphone data “with the highest network priority.”

The Bellevue, Wash.-based carrier, which recently completed a merger with Sprint, also announced a trade-in offer for a free iPhone SE or half off a Samsung Galaxy GS20, and a 5G network expansion in San Francisco, Sacramento, Tampa, and Orlando.

T-Mobile last week posted record Q1 profits, with $11.1 billion in revenue. The Bellevue, Wash.-based company added a net total of 649,000 customers in the first quarter. T-Mobile now has 68.54 million subscribers.
