T-Mobile hit a new milestone this weekend as it turned thousands of Sprint retail stores magenta, unifying the company’s brand following its historic $26 billion merger that brought together the nation’s third and fourth-largest wireless carriers.

T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said the transition “marks the beginning of a new era for T-Mobile” and touted some of the progress thus far for the newly-combined company, including its new Scam Shield initiative and 4-line $100/month plan.

“…we are continuing to drag the industry along kicking and screaming,” Sievert wrote in a blog post.

Sievert noted that the company’s 5G network “will surpass anything that anyone (yes, including Verizon) will deliver to the market for years” and teased an “important network milestone coming up really soon.”

“Thank you to the tens of thousands of crazy-talented, customer-first employees who are the driving force of our success,” he wrote. “Together, we will have the brand, the people and the network to fiercely compete with AT&T, Verizon and Big Cable like never before! We are here to compete, and to win – yes, some things will simply not change (no matter how much the other guys may want them to!).”
