Off-season updates at T-Mobile Park, the home of the Seattle Mariners, will give modern-day fans of the baseball franchise a way to celebrate a bit of the team’s history, including through augmented reality technology.

  • The Mariners announced Thursday that a new gathering space above the left field foul pole on the View Level, previously known as Lookout Landing, is being reimagined as the Trident Deck. The name plays off the team’s early trident logo, which remains popular on merchandise today.
  • Along with a rooftop bar and photos of early Mariners players, the gathering space will include the ability to look back at the team’s first home, the Kingdome, which was demolished by implosion in 2000. Fans can use their smartphones to scan a code and via AR they will be able to cycle through historical images of the Kingdome projected over the view of CenturyLink Field, which stands on the original site of the domed stadium.
  • Bellevue, Wash.-based wireless carrier T-Mobile paid a reported $87 million in 2018 to take over naming rights to what was previously Safeco Field. The new park has been infused with T-Mobile’s signature touches, including plenty of the brand’s magenta color.
