Microsoft today announced the launch of a new engineering center in India, doubling down on the country where it first established operations in 1990.
- The India Development Center in the “National Capital Region” city of Noida is Microsoft’s third office in the country, following the establishment of outposts in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
- Microsoft called its India offices “a true microcosm of engineering” at the company. The new engineering hub will host teams from several major wings of the company, including Artificial Intelligence & Research, Cloud & Enterprise, Experience & Devices and Mixer, making the office the first place outside of the Redmond, Wash. HQ campus to house engineers for the game-streaming service.
- “Microsoft entities,” the company said, have a total of 10,000 employees working in 11 cities in India. In addition to engineering and R&D roles, Microsoft has people focused on sales and marketing and customer service.
- Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will visit India later this month.
