LAS VEGAS — Polk Audio is teaming up with Amazon to sell the first voice-controlled sound bar with built-in Alexa voice technology. It’s the latest device with Alexa integration being announced at CES this week.

The two companies held a press conference at CES today to announce the new Polk Command Bar. The $299.95 device features far-field microphones that lets users control sound in a home theater with their voice and also provides basic functionality of Alexa, like asking questions about the weather, setting alarms, playing music, and more.

The Polk Command Bar, available in the U.S. and Canada this spring, also includes an HDMI port that allows users to control Amazon’s Fire TV with their voice and other smart home devices. It also supports smart home skills that control lights, locks, and more.

“For the past year, we worked to develop a sound bar that profoundly changes how we interact with the home entertainment experience,” Kevin Duffy, CEO and president of Polk Audio parent company Sound United, said in a statement. “The result is a product that produces Polk Audio-quality sound for movies and music, while simultaneously delivering voice control not yet found in a traditional sound bar.”

This is one of several Alexa-related announcements at CES this week, with countless devices ranging from home appliances to PCs to cars that integrate with Amazon’s voice platform.
