In the race to catch HBO as the dominant force in award-winning television, the streaming service Netflix made up more ground on Thursday as the nominations were announced for the 69th Emmy Awards.
Netflix garnered 91 nominations behind the strength of such series as “Stranger Things” and “Master of None.” HBO led the pack with 110 nominations, with the futuristic android series “Westworld” landing 22 nominations.
NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” also scored 22 nominations, boosted by the presidential election last fall and the recurring appearance of actor Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump.
The Amazon Studios series “Mozart in the Jungle,” starring actor Gael Garcia Bernal, received three nominations. The Hollywood Reporter has the streaming service receiving 16 nominations in total.

The 69th Emmy Awards from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles will air Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. PT on CBS. Stephen Colbert will serve as host.
