We’re excited to announce that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will be a featured speaker at the 2017 GeekWire Summit in Seattle in October, sitting down for an on-stage interview shortly after the publication of his upcoming book, “Hit Refresh.”

As just the third CEO in the tech giant’s history, Nadella has been revitalizing Microsoft’s culture and working to reposition the company to capitalize on fundamental shifts in computing and technology, including artificial intelligence, mixed reality and quantum computing. Microsoft’s stock is up nearly 90 percent since he took the top job in 2014.

Nadella’s book, scheduled to be published by Harper Collins on Sept. 26, promises “the inside story of the company’s continuing transformation, tracing his own personal journey from a childhood in India to leading some of the most significant technological changes in the digital era.”

We’ll have a wide-ranging conversation with the Microsoft CEO, exploring the themes and subjects of his book. An engineer by training, Nadella led Microsoft businesses including its Bing search engine and Azure cloud computing platform prior to becoming CEO, putting him in a unique position to understand and shape the future of technology.

Nadella’s appearance continues our tradition of featuring leading figures in technology, science and business on the GeekWire Summit stage. Past speakers have included T-Mobile CEO John Legere, Juno Therapeutics CEO Hans Bishop, then-DARPA director Arati Prabhakar, former WIRED editor Chris Anderson, Expedia CEO Dara Khosrowshahi and many more.

The event, now in its sixth year, brings together innovators, entrepreneurs, business executives, scientists and tech leaders to explore the future of the innovation economy. This year’s GeekWire Summit takes place Oct. 9-11 in downtown Seattle, and Nadella is just the first in a series of speakers we’ll be announcing for what we expect to be our strongest lineup yet.
