Perhaps there is no better day than today, with epic rainstorms taking over the Pacific Northwest, than to talk about this new self-drying jacket on Kickstarter.

Created by Falyon Wearable Tech in San Francisco, the new jacket promises, in Back to the Future II style, to automatically dry at the push of a button.

The Self-Drying Jacket 01 (SDJ-01) also features pockets for gear, like smartphones and tablets, in addition to the battery pack, vents, air amplifiers and the power button to activate the quick-dry feature.

“In lab tests, our jackets consistently experienced noticable drying effects after just 30 seconds, with the average time of about a minute to achieve 90 percent drying effect,” Falyon writes on Kickstarter.

The outer shell is water-resistant nylon, and the jacket is stuffed with a synthetic insulation that is made to replicate down but bounce back after getting wet.

The jacket is now available in five colors, a pledge of $149 snags a jacket in charcoal black, titanium white, metallic silver or cobalt blue; $159 gets the special edition jacket. The company expects to start shipping jackets next April.

Not much help now, but if you purchase one as a gift, the company will send a digital gift card to the recipient.
