ps4Following a 2-month delay, Sony announced today that it will sell the PlayStation 4 in China starting on March 20.

Bloomberg noted that Sony originally said it would sell its console starting Jan. 11, but had to hold off due to requests from the Chinese government.

Sony will price the PS4 at about $463, or $64 more than the $399 price tag in the U.S. The company will also sell its Vita handheld console for $207.

Microsoft, meanwhile, started selling the Xbox One in China on Sept. 29. The console originally sold for $599 without the Kinect — $100 more than in the U.S. — but Microsoft dropped the price by about $80 in December.

China banned foreign game consoles outright in 2000, citing the impact of video games on youth in the country, but an expansion of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone in 2013 relaxed the rules.

Sony announced last week that since the PS4 went on sale less than two years ago, it has sold 20.2 million units worldwide, making it the company’s fastest-selling video game console ever.

The PS4 also outsold the Xbox One in the U.S. in January, reclaiming the title from Microsoft, which had led the U.S. console market in November and December. Sony had outpaced Microsoft in U.S. console sales for ten consecutive months up until November.
