Will be building a Hyperloop test track for companies and student teams to test out their pods. Most likely in Texas.

In a tweet today, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced that he will be building a hyperloop test track in Texas.
Oh, and he might even use it for racing competitions. He followed up his initial announcement with this gem: “Also thinking of having an annual student Hyperloop pod racer competition, like Formula SAE students.sae.org/cds/formulaser.”
Musk first announced his hyperloop scheme back in 2013, which would run between San Francisco and Los Angeles, carrying passengers to and fro in 35 minutes at speeds of up to 800 mph. No word on that actually happening, but this Texas fun, er, test loop might lay the groundwork for this dream to come true. Imagine, no more gridlocked I-5? Hell to the yes.
Musk is having quite a week. On Tuesday, he announced that SpaceX would be opening an office in Redmond and employing up to 1,000 people to fuel his satellite-building projects that will help build colonies on Mars. Shine on, you crazy diamond, Elon. Shine on.
