This Adult FriendFinder hack is turning out uglier than one would think.

Sure, hacks always put customers’ sensitive data at risk, including payment accounts, but as the UK’s Channel 4 News reports, this Adult FriendFinder hack is putting people’s personal sexual preferences out there for hackers to exploit.

About 4 million users of the site have intimate details out there, including sexual orientation, kinks and fetishes, and those who are looking to cheat in a “mine of sensitive data,” according to Channel 4.

Adult FriendFinder has about 60 million users worldwide. While it falls into the dating site category, it really is intended for more no-strings-attached hook-ups than anything else, making it more liable to carry less-than-vanilla details about its users’ sex lives.

Channel 4 is calling it a “gold mine for extortionists,” and some of the nearly 4 million exposed have already been targeted with spam and other phishing schemes.

Interesting factoid Channel 4 calls out: In the UK, only one in 16 users on Adult FriendFinder identified themselves as women. So…if you’re a guy seeking a lady you might have a better chance out and about in real life than on hook-up sites.
