mozartjunglePeople looking for something to watch over Christmas won’t have to settle for the same old marathons of James Bond movies and “NCIS.” Amazon announced today that “Mozart in the Jungle,” one of the company’s new original video series, will premiere Dec. 23 on Prime Instant Video, just in time for everyone to kick back for the holidays. All 10 episodes of its first season will be available at once, so people who want to burn through the whole show in one binge watching session can do so.

The show, which is based on the debauchery-filled memoir of a classical musician in New York, was one of the shows selected during the company’s spring pilot season this year. It stars Lola Kirke as Haley, a young oboist making her way in the wilds of the classical music scene, alongside Gael Garcia Bernal as a new conductor who threatens the orchestra’s status quo.

Fair warning, parents: while the show is being released during a traditionally family-friendly time of year, this is not one to share with kids. If the pilot (and source material) are any indication, “Mozart” will be taking full advantage of Amazon’s lack of censorship relative to broadcast TV with plenty of references to sex, drugs and other adult situations.
