mavericksLess than 24 hours after its release, Mavericks, Apple’s latest update to the Mac OS, has already begun picking up steam.

According to data released by analytics company GoSquared, Mavericks has already picked up between 6 and 8 percent of web traffic from Macs on sites that use GoSquared for their monitoring. That means overall, usage of Mavericks seems to have passed people who are using OS 10.6 “Snow Leopard,” Apple’s release from 2009, which some users still rely on for its emulation support of apps that only run on PowerPC processors.

While a certain early adopter rush following a new update is to be expected, Apple also released Mavericks for free, which lowers the barrier for people who were on the fence about upgrading.

If you want to pick up Apple’s newest OS for free, it’s available in the Mac App Store. Before you upgrade, you might want to take a look at our guide to getting your Mac ready for the transition.
