Bill Gates certainly knows a lot of stuff, from computer software to global health, and much more.

But as evidenced by his love for reading books, the Microsoft co-founder likes learning something new every day. His seven favorite books from 2013 helped him accomplish this during the past year, and taught him more about how the world works — from the creation of shipping containers to the dangers of overfishing.

“More generally, these books tell amazing stories of human ingenuity,” Gates wrote last week. “It is this ingenuity that helps explain why the world keeps getting better, and why at the end of each year I look forward to the next one with hope and optimism.”

Now, you can learn something new, too.

Today we’re kicking off a BillG Book Contest for a chance to win all seven of Gates’ favorite titles that he read this year (total retail value of $150).

Important note: This contest is a special perk for our GeekWire Daily Digest email subscribers, and you need to be a subscriber to be eligible to win. If you’re not already one, you can sign up here for a free subscription.

As far as the contest, here’s what’s going down:

  • We’ve listed seven BillG-related trivia questions below. Every answer can be found in a past GeekWire story.
  • We’ll post clues on our Twitter and Facebook pages for the next four days. Make sure to follow those accounts to receive updates.
  • One winner will be picked at random from the correct submissions.
  • The seven books can be sent to a physical address, or delivered to you in Kindle format.

Here are the seven books:

  1. The Box, by Marc Levinson.
  2. The Most Powerful Idea in the World, by William Rosen.
  3. Harvesting the Biosphere, by Vaclav Smil.
  4. The World Until Yesterday, by Jared Diamond.
  5. Poor Numbers, by Morten Jerven.
  6. Why Does College Cost So Much?, by Robert B. Archibald and David H. Feldman.
  7. The Bet, by Paul Sabin.

And finally, here are the seven BillG-related trivia questions. You have until Sunday, Dec. 22 at 11:59 P.M. PST to submit. Good luck!
