Microsoft is taking over management of Windows 10 devices at big companies, with a new service it says is meant to take some heat off IT departments as security threats become increasingly more complex.

Known as Microsoft Managed Desktop, the service lets enterprise users opt for Microsoft to manage their devices through providing hardware and ongoing feature and security updates for a monthly subscription fee. Users of the new service will also get Microsoft 365 Enterprise — the combination of Windows 10 Enterprise, Office 365 and Enterprise Mobility + Security.

Microsoft is starting slow, with only a small number of customers in the U.S. and the U.K. today with expansion to Canada, Australia, and New Zealand beginning in early 2019. Microsoft will take the knowledge from these early customers to shape the program as it expands to other parts the world in the second half of next year.
